About VAMPF

Are you ready to play a critical role in protecting South Carolina’s most vulnerable citizens and holding those who commit complex white-collar crimes accountable? The SC Attorney General’s Office Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud Unit (VAMPF) is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our mission-driven team.

As part of VAMPF, you will support a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary group of attorneys, investigators, and auditors. Professionals recognized nationally for their expertise in joint criminal and civil enforcement. Our work involves investigating and prosecuting multimillion-dollar Medicaid provider fraud schemes, as well as the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults. Your contributions will help ensure these cases move forward efficiently and effectively.

In this role, you will serve as the unit’s first point of contact, providing administrative support and helping keep our operations running smoothly. From assisting with case documentation to maintaining office organization and ensuring federal grant compliance, your work will make a meaningful difference every day.

  • Serving as the Unit’s representative to the public—answering calls promptly and professionally, and welcoming visitors.
  • Processing mail and deliveries with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Drafting business correspondence.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact to document received complaints and redirect constituents to alternative resources as needed.
  • Performing routine data entry and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting case progression through document preparation, organization, and tracking.
  • Providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Unit leadership and staff.
  • Managing office operations, including monitoring supplies and ensuring shared spaces are neat, organized, and functional.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned by the Unit Director or Chief Investigator, such as attending meetings and trainings, participating in committees, assisting with interviews for vacancies, and supporting federal grant reporting.

This position also includes an excellent benefits package:
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Health, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance for employees, spouses, and children.
  • Fifteen days of annual (vacation) leave per year.
  • Fifteen days of sick leave per year.
  • Thirteen paid holidays.
  • State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation Programs.

  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn Unit-specific software, including case and document management systems.
  • Genuine interest in both criminal and civil law and the mission of public service.
  • Ability to comfortably engage with team members in scheduled meetings and day-to-day collaboration.
  • Able to balance focused, detail-oriented tasks with sudden incoming requests or shifting priorities.
  • Skilled at managing a high-volume caseload while organizing and prioritizing tasks for multiple team members in a dynamic office environment with consistent background activity, phone calls, and visitor traffic.
  • Highly detail-focused, curious, resourceful, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision.
