Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a community-based not-for-profit community development corporation and settlement house that offers comprehensive housing preservation, early childhood education, urban agriculture, public health, youth and family services, career and education, college success, and community organizing programs. With community residents leading the way, the mission of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is to build a strong, sustainable Cypress Hills/East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure healthy and affordable housing and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community. CHLDC currently serves 20,000 residents from 20+ different community locations with a dedicated workforce of 150+ full-time and 400+ part-time employees.
The organization is at a critical juncture in its development. CHLDC has grown significantly in the last several years. Our organization opened a new community center/service hub two years ago and recently merged with another settlement house in East New York. We are also making unprecedented investments in our staff and back office. Moreover, we are welcoming a new Executive Director upon the retirement of our long-time/founding Executive Director.
