The Newcomer Information Centres are walk-in information and referral centres funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and operated by Achēv. NICs provide settlement information and referral for the smooth transition of newcomers to life in Canada.
The Administrative Assistant will provide outstanding customer service to clients and administrative support to the Coordinator and Information Counsellors at Achēv’s Newcomer Information Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
• Welcome and assist clients at the Front Desk in a professional and friendly manner
• Deliver excellent customer service to all clients and visitors
• Answer incoming calls and direct clients to appropriate staff and programs
• Accurately register eligible clients in OneClient; support clients with self-registration
• Maintain and enter confidential client information with a high level of accuracy and discretion
• Support the preparation and distribution of promotional and outreach materials
• Provide basic orientation to clients regarding Achēv services, with a focus on newcomer supports
• Participate in outreach activities and community events to promote available programs and services
• Assist team members and perform other administrative duties as required
Qualifications & Skills:
• Strong customer service skills with a client-centered approach
• High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
• Strong organizational and planning abilities
• Ability to multitask, take initiative, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Adaptable, flexible, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of an additional language is an asset
• Access to a vehicle is considered an asset
