Job Description

TITLE: Administrative Assistant Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  2. Has the ability to read and follow written directions
  3. Has three years of increasingly responsible secretarial and clerical experience
  4. Has the ability to type at a skill level of 55 words per minute
  5. Has specialized skills in filing, telephone and computer operation
  6. Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  7. Has demonstrated competence in correspondence and respect for confidentiality
  8. Has prior experience or education that indicates an ability to handle pressure and deal with changing tasks and time schedule
  9. Has demonstrated the ability or potential to relate to and work effectively with staff and community

REPORTS TO: Executive Director Student Services

JOB GOAL: To assist the Executive Director Student Services so that he/she may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administration.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be familiar with and follow written statutes, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities
  2. Assist in the development of informational materials (brochures, flyers, posters, etc.)Concerning federal programs and their functions
  3. Compose written correspondence and reports as directed by supervisor
  4. Assimilate and distribute informational materials to schools and community
  5. Type and disseminate handbooks, meeting information, in-service material and communications between Student Services office, schools and community
  6. Assist in gathering, correlation and distribution of data
  7. Facilitate the distribution of nondiscrimination materials
  8. Maintain equity documentation
  9. Perform routine office duties of typing, filing, telephone, mail, scheduling correspondence, etc.
  10. Place and receive telephone calls and maintain telephone log
  11. Compile and complete annual child count data
  12. Compile and complete Civil Rights data
  13. Compile and complete Declarations of Participation
  14. Coordinate special projects, events and assignments as directed by supervisor
  15. Maintain grievance procedure file
  16. Maintain Project Special Child file
  17. Assist administrators, teachers, parents and community with questions regarding federal programs & Student Services
  18. Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Hourly (Grade 10)
  • 8 hrs. per day
  • 40 per wk.
  • 246 days
  • 12 months
  • Board approved 5-10-01
