Clerical/Technical Support Compensation Plan

Pay Grade: 4
Shift Type: Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Principal

EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible


PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • To serve as a secretary to the principal and as facilitator for the school community by communicating information, problem solving, material acquisition, record keeping, and other duties as assigned by the administrative staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Possess appropriate typing skills for keyboarding.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior successful secretarial experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Make and receive telephone calls, take messages, and route calls.
  • Maintain school records and files for building, principal, and related requirements.
  • Receives visitors, new parents, and students; answering questions; resolving student problems.
  • Assist with student enrollment during the summer
  • Type, prepare, distribute, and file records/reports, correspondence, mailings etc. related to building functions and principal needs.
  • Generate all purchase orders, check requests, inventory requisitions, work orders, workman comp forms and incident reports.
  • Serve as a confidential secretary to the principal and assistant principal.
  • Compile and submit a variety of weekly, monthly and year end reports as required
  • Act as liaison between school and community, principal, parents, staff and students.
  • Schedule requested conferences and facilitating use of building by external groups.
  • Oversee Substitute Teachers.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Distribute mail and community/district flyers.
  • Assist in preparation of school calendar of events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Administer medication according to policy and regulations/provide appropriate first aid needs.. (For Elementary)
  • Process attendance/payroll for the building staff. (For Elementary)

  • None

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands:

  • Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on- one and small group situations.
  • Maintaining emotional control under stress.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Interact with the public and other staff and occasionally meet multiple demands from several people.

Physical demands/environmental factors:

  • Reaching with hands and arms and frequently repeating the same hand, arm or finger motion.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 lbs.
  • Standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
  • Moderate noise level in work environment.
