Works under general supervision to provide secretarial and clerical support for day-to-day operations in the department or division office.
The Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive support to departmental operations, faculty members, and the Department Chair. Responsibilities include processing departmental orders, answering and directing telephone calls, maintaining files and records, preparing correspondence, and assisting with the retrieval and distribution of scientific and journal articles. The position also supports the coordination of meetings and special events.
In addition, the Administrative Assistant performs a variety of faculty and leadership support functions, including preparing travel requests, processing reimbursement documentation, assisting with manuscript preparation, and providing administrative support for grant development and submission activities. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional academic environment.
