Administrative Assistant I/II in the HKU Northern Metropolis Office (Ref.: 537596)

About the HKU Northern Metropolis Office

With a view to consolidating our efforts in participating in the Northern Metropolis University Town initiative promulgated by the Government, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has recently established the Northern Metropolis Office (NMO) to provide focused leadership and coordinated support for the University’s strategic developments in the Northern Metropolis University Towns (NMUTs). The NMO is responsible for the planning, development and future operation of these initiatives through engagement with stakeholders within and outside of the University.

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director (Academic), the appointee will:

  • support the academic planning associated with the NMUT development ;
  • coordinate projects and initiatives in collaboration with academic and administrative units;
  • provide secretariat support to Committees and Task Forces;
  • conduct research as well as analyse reports and data to inform academic planning and policy development;
  • draft submissions, progress reports, and discussion documents;
  • liaise with various stakeholders to facilitate academic planning initiatives in the NMUTs;
  • manage project timelines and coordinate progress; and
  • undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should have a good university degree with at least 10 years’ solid administrative experience, preferably in higher education, as well as an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), and strong IT and quantitative skills. They should have strong organizational and problem-solving skills and proven ability in data analysis for planning purposes. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, demonstrated capacity to coordinate complex projects and work independently under pressure are required. Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Administrative Assistant II.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a full-time fixed-term contract for two years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary for Administrative Assistant I, or at 10% of basic salary for Administrative Assistant II. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
