Job Description

Duties

  • Performs billing duties for all billable School-Based Health Center providers, including medical and mental health Includes verifying and updating patient health insurance information, processing referrals, entering billing data, and following up on billing requests as assigned.
  • Registers School-Based Health Center patients, makes appointments, and processes referrals, using electronic
  • Facilitates electronic medical record registration of patients at Boston Medical
  • Verifies and updates health insurance information and
  • Reviews patient consent forms, making sure information is complete, and performs outreach to complete missing
  • Inputs data from forms received from providers into electronic databases as
  • Performs general office and clerical duties, including word processing, filing, copying, faxing, answering phones, taking messages, and ordering office supplies.
  • Takes minutes and attendance at site meetings and shares with staff and School-Based Health Program
  • Assists School-Based Health Center staff with other clerical work as
  • Maintains files of all registered patients in the School-Based Health
  • Manages flow of students between health service
  • Assists patients with access/follow-up with members of student support
  • Works collaboratively with staff from Boston Public Schools, including the student support services coordinator and school
  • Assists in the set-up of new School-Based Health
  • Attends meetings for operations, professional development, and related
  • Participates in quality improvement activities as part of efforts to consistently improve SBHC
  • Meets with other SBHC provider staff and BPS staff as
  • Adheres to BPHC, BMC, and BPS policies regarding
  • Performs duties independently and maintains regular communication with off-site supervisor including timely reporting of questions/issues.
  • Performs other duties as

This job description is based on the Administrative Assistant Series. May be required to perform any and all duties and responsibilities of an Administrative Assistant I, as set forth in the BPHC Administrative Assistant Series.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Minimum 2 years clerical
  • Minimum 2 years data entry
  • Experience working in health care setting
  • Experience working with Windows, MSWord, Excel and with
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Ability to communicate effectively with
  • Ability to work as part of a
