San Bernardino County is recruiting for Administrative AssistantsThese positions perform a variety of secretarial duties and administrative tasks supporting one or more professional or management positions. Incumbents may compose and type correspondence, minutes from meetings, and a variety of other documents and technical materials from notes, drafts, shorthand or recorded dictation; schedule meetings and conferences; prepare materials and agendas; maintain supervisor's calendar; schedule and make travel arrangements; screen mail, email, calls, and visitors; answer inquiries regarding departmental policies and procedures; and assist with various projects.

The Special Districts Department is a separate entity from San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background check, including fingerprinting, medical exam/drug test, and verification of employment history prior to appointment.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees will be required to make provisions for transportation. Mileage reimbursement may be available.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require visa sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Examples of duties

Candidates must meet ONE (1) of the following options to qualify:

OPTION 1:

Three (3) years of full-time equivalent, highly responsible office clerical experience involving a wide variety of complex clerical tasks that are non-routine in nature and require independent decision-making

Experience must include interpreting and applying policies and regulations, providing information to the public, answering telephones, reviewing and processing documents through procedural workflows, understanding and referencing a variety of documents and resources, using software and computer applications, conducting research and compiling reports, and other related tasks. Failure to clearly describe clerical experience with a wide variety of complex tasks may result in disqualification.



OPTION 2:
One (1) year of full-time equivalent secretarial experiencein support of a specified professional or administrative position(s) where duties include experience in calendaring, scheduling meetings, composing correspondence, maintaining files and records, preparing agendas, making travel arrangements, conducting research and compiling reports, taking and transcribing minutes, etc.Failure to clearly indicate the specified professional or administrative position(s) supported and tasks performed may result in disqualification.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. This includes knowledge of personal computer applications; knowledge of record-keeping techniques; and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
