Position Classification
FT-Staff UDMPSSA (Grade 9 Position)
This job’s focus is to provide administrative support to the Department of Biology in the College of Engineering, Science, and the Ford Life Sciences Building. The department serves approximately 700 major students, 18 full-time faculty, a Laboratory Manager, and 2 Instructor/Adjunct employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides confidential administrative support to faculty and staff regarding degree-granting programs. Collects and prepares information for use in discussions and meetings.
- Resolves problems that have an impact on the overall efficiency and running of the Life Sciences Building and the course offerings of the Biology department. For example: facilities and IT ticket submissions, class cancellations, faculty announcement.
- Screens incoming mail, publications, and other correspondence for faculty and staff in the department.
- Prepares or assists in the collection of information and data for departmental reports, dean requested data. Assists with Graduation and Honor convocation preparation.
- Assists in program planning, development, and execution of departmental and college activities/ events.
- Prepares, writes, and disseminates a monthly departmental newsletter to communication departmental activities to faculty and staff within the department/college.
- Assists in entering departmental courses for upcoming semester into Coursedog.
- Maintains daily appointment calendar for the Departmental Chair and Assistant Chair; communicates information regarding cancellations or changes. Coordinates meetings and makes appointments when necessary.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education – A high school diploma or GED
- Employment – Six months to two years of work experience (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Physical Requirements
The job may require lifting light-weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions, such as those found in a normal office.
Salary/Pay Information
UDMPSSA Grade 9 Position $22.6284 per hour.
Anticipated Schedule
8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Pay Range
Commensurate with experience
