Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is an independent, non-profit organisation with its head office located near North Sydney. We are the world’s largest treatment and research centre with a single focus on melanoma, and our mission is to reach zero deaths from melanoma this decade.

MIA is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Operations Team that is overseeing the development of the Roadmap for a National Targeted Skin Cancer Screening Program. This is a government-funded 3.5-year program that commenced in January 2025, led by the Melanoma Institute Australia in close consultation with Cancer Australia and the broader skin cancer sector.

We require an individual with exceptional organisation skills to support this highly complex Roadmap Program. You should have solid administrative experience preferably in a research or complex program setting, including experience working with clinicians and researchers at all levels of seniority. The position will perform administrative duties under the guidance of the Program Manager, Program Officer and Roadmap Lead. This will include helping to coordinate and support meetings of three governance Committees, four Workstreams and the Operations Team, taking minutes, drafting documents, record keeping, updating communication materials, and responding to routine queries for the Roadmap Operations team. This role requires exceptional administrative and organisational skills to coordinate and undertake a range of operational activities on a day-to-day basis. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 30 June 2028

The successful applicant will report to the Program Manager at the Melanoma Institute Australia and be based predominantly with the Melanoma and Skin Cancer team at the Daffodil Centre at The University of Sydney Camperdown campus. Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience working in a research or clinical setting
  • Team player with a collaborative outlook
  • Highly organised
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience supporting complex meetings with diverse members, including minute taking
  • Able to relate well to others and work effectively as part of a small team
  • Shows initiative and able to exercise sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
  • Proficient PC skills including competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health or medical science field
  • Previous research project experience
