Job Description

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is one of New Jersey’s largest non-profit social service agencies with programs and facilities serving Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties.

We are currently seeking 2 Full-Time Administrative Assistants for our Newark& Jersey City shelter locations. We need one at each location

We are looking to fill this position as quickly as possible! Must be able to start immediately.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Schedule: M-F 9AM-5PM

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of administrative assistant, office coordination, or clerical experience required
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit, social services, shelter, healthcare, behavioral health, or fast-paced human services environment strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, track documentation, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-up skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, clients, vendors, and community partners
  • Experience answering multi-line phones, scheduling appointments/meetings, and supporting multiple team members preferred
  • Ability to take meeting notes and prepare professional correspondence and reports
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
