This role is responsible for supporting ministry at the Corps, working alongside the Corps Officer to plan and implement programming with the congregation and the surrounding community. This position assists the Corps Officers and provides administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the corps. The role includes supporting daily office tasks, communication, record keeping, and coordination with staff and volunteers, while upholding the mission and ministries of the corps with professionalism and a spirit of service.

Essential Functions

  • Provide general office support, including data entry, filing, program reports, preparing information for Corps Officers and financial records, and assisting with bank deposits.
  • Coordinate and send mailings on behalf of The Salvation Army OC Korean Corps.
  • Complete the monthly statistics
  • Assist with answering phones, responding to inquiries, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Plan and implement special events and outreach programs in collaboration with Corps Officers, including Summer Camping Programs and seasonal initiatives such as Kettles, Adopt-a-Family, Angel Tree, Toy Drives, and Thanksgiving Meal.
  • Support Corps Officers in implementing various projects that complement the vision of the corps, such as Corps Clean Ups, EDS, and other service projects.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Corps Officers.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively with staff members.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to complete reports accurately and on time.
  • Minimum of 2 years of office and/or administrative experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Valid California Driver's License.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Driving Test and MVR check (if applicable).
  • A criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
  • Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.
