
The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Aide in the Human Resources Department.
The Administrative Aide provides administrative support for Human Resources activities including recruitment, compensation, training, benefits, compliance, employee relations, record keeping, and related activities. This position is responsible for maintaining the HRIS system and administering payroll for the HR department.
The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files including electronic employee database and physical employee files; Provide support in the day-to-day office function, including maintaining office supplies and equipment; Respond to general HR-related inquiries from employees and the public in person, by telephone, and email and direct more complex HR matters to the appropriate personnel; Creates a variety of employee communications, materials, and messaging in multiple formats that effectively inform and educate employees on HR programs; Retain working knowledge of different labor agreements to execute changes in accordance with the various policies and procedures; Verify all hours and transactions including but not limited to daily hours, paid time off, sick time for the Human Resource Department staff; Create employee profiles for new hires in the HRIS/payroll system; Monitor and process employee changes in the HRIS/payroll system including transfers, promotions, and terminations; Provide technical assistance on the HRIS/payroll system to City employees; Maintain job description library and assist with compensation assessment and evaluation; Other related duties as assigned.
This position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.; Associates degree in business administration or related field is preferred. This position also requires a minimum of three (3) years’ progressively responsible administrative experience; Prior experience in the human resources field is preferred.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to physical, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The position is on site in City Hall with work hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Starting hourly pay is $28.47/hr. dependent on experience and qualifications.
