Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We’re looking for an Administration Support Officer to provide responsive, timely and high-quality administrative support to managers and teams across NZTA Waka Kotahi.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping things running smoothly—supporting meetings, events, financial administration, and business processes. You’ll also work closely with the wider Administration Services team to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high standards across the organisation.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same, and where your organisation, initiative, and attention to detail will be highly valued.

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $70,000 - $75,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a broad administration role supporting multiple stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Strong digital capability, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to work under pressure
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn and adapt

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to develop an understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and how these apply in the public sector.
