Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised and customer-focused Administrative Officer to join our Administrative Operations team based in Preston.

This role is central to ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our office, providing reception, administrative and business support across the Northern region.

You will be the first point of contact for staff, visitors, and stakeholders, delivering a professional, welcoming and efficient service while supporting a broad range of operational and administrative activities.

  • Preston Office, on Wurundjeri Country
  • Part time (3 days a week), Permanent role
  • Base salary $68k pa + Super & Salary Packaging (pro rata)

The Opportunity

  • Play a key frontline role managing reception, phone enquiries and visitor experience
  • Provide high-quality administrative, financial and operational support to regional teams
  • Manage processes including data entry, database maintenance, invoice processing and document formatting
  • Support office operations including purchasing, mail coordination, travel bookings and event logistics
  • Contribute to a collaborative administration team and help improve systems and processes
  • Work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same

You will be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development, while contributing to meaningful outcomes for the community.

About You

You are a proactive and adaptable administrative professional who thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality support.

You will bring:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with a diverse range of people
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proven administrative experience, including working with databases and Microsoft Office applications
  • A high level of attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and confidential records
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm and effective in challenging or high-pressure situations
  • Experience in community services or a not-for-profit environment is desirable but not essential.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
