Employee Contract Type:

Local - Fixed Term Employee (Fixed Term)

The position is responsible to transport office/project staff, guests and other official passengers to their destinations safely, promptly, and securely condition. Ensure the safety and security of the vehicle assigned to him and all the cargo therein. Perform other tasks in the course of transporting passengers and cargo as and when needed. Perform maintenance work of the Vientiane office building and all the vehicles in Vientiane. This position is also responsible for day-to-day messenger work, such as go to bank, check the PO Box, deliver the documents to the ministries/other offices, and collect the documents from the ministries/other offices etc.

Control office supplies and Kitchen supplies, keep records all items distributed and summary and sent to finance at the end of every months and charge to the right cost center. Assist stickers and annual verification of assets.

Day to day tracking office premises and make sure bulbs, air condition, fans, water cooler, water supply, furniture and etc... are functioning, safety for staff and office. Provide needed general services to the various departments at the National Office and Programs and Zonal Offices.

Main responsibilities

Driving the office vehicle

  • On given instructions, drive passengers and/or cargo to their destination safely, courteously and on time.
  • Clean the assigned and (or) all the vehicles before 8:00AM and maintain these in good running condition all the time.
  • Regularly inspect vehicle and recommend appropriate repairs or maintenance work to be done. Ensure changes of oil, regular body wash, tire and brake checks and other needed maintenance.
  • At the end of the day, park vehicle in designated place, secure and lock vehicle and endorse keys to supervisor unless other arrangements are made.
  • Perform simple trouble shooting and minor repairs. Recommend major repairs to Supervisor and facilitates such repairs.
  • Take vehicles for maintenance and servicing.
  • Place logbooks in each car, record mileage in the logbooks for the every usage and write correct cost centers for charging.
  • As the job demands, you are required to work beyond office time and during the weekends from time to time.

Office related Admin/Logistic work

  • Ensure Purchase of Vehicle Insurance and make Vehicle Registration including Vehicle Border, Pink-book.
  • Control First AIDs Kits box and distribute to the staff when needed and keep record to the logbook and report to Admin Officer in monthly.
  • Assist sticker and annual verification of assets, sales function of items and assets being disposed-off.
  • Keep watch on office premises, office, training room etc. Check bulbs, air conditions, fans, water cooler are working. Check cleanness of office and premises. Check maintenance of air conditions, Furniture and etc. Check security measures are sufficient and report to Admin Coordinator/Officer in monthly bases.
  • Liaise with shipper and shipping agents.
  • Arranges temporary storage. Make sure the store is clean and keep the goods in orderly.
  • Dispatches/Receives documents and materials. Send and receive mails for Zonal Offices. Make sure that Zonal Offices are receiving their mails.
  • Maintain a logbook for all in and out documents.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by organization

Education, knowledge and skills

  • At least two years’ experience as a driver and/or car mechanics.
  • With a good recommendation from previous employer.
  • Ability to speak English would be a definite asset.
  • Willingness to travel extensively including weekends.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and current driving logs and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Secondary level education or equivalent vocational training.
  • Above average driving skills, able to drive cars, four-wheel drive trucks.
  • Valid Lao PDR Driver’s License with excellent driving record.
  • Knowledge of all laws relating to the operation of motor vehicles in the Lao PDR.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics and vehicle maintenance requirements.
