POSITION SUMMARY:
The Administrative Professional to School Counselors supports the Chief of Accountability, School Counselors, and Administrators. This position is responsible for collaborating with the school counselors to support various academic projects and initiatives and performing administrative and office support for staff and students. This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Also, this position serves as an initial point of contact for the Counseling Department. The Administrative Professional will follow all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tracks and maintains confidential records under applicable laws and regulations
- Schedules appointments and helps manage the department's calendar
- Drafts and sends correspondences as directed including state and federal agencies
- Routes incoming and outgoing record requests
- Handles phone calls and relays accurate information
- Serves as a confidential liaison between staff and parents/guardians
- Supports data entry and state reporting
- Attends department meetings as directed
- Maintains good communication and working relationships with colleagues and external contacts
- Works closely with the department to prepare documents for audit
- Maintains the department's office supply inventory
- Works following laws, regulations, and UVA's policies and procedures
- Attends professional development workshops and meetings
- Stays up to date with state and federal laws regarding accountability
- Performs all other duties as assigned
