Required Degree
Master's degree. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Preferred Experience
The candidate will demonstrate exceptional potential for teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. This will often, but not always, be demonstrated by teaching experience in religious education in the Church Educational System.
Duties
Teach assigned classes in Church History & Doctrine (Rel C 225 Foundations of the Restoration; Doctrine & Covenants - C 320; History of the Church - C 341, 342, 343). Classes could be day, evening, BYU Online, or BYU Salt Lake Center classes.
BYU’s Department of Church History & Doctrine is dedicated to furthering the mission of Brigham Young University and BYU Religious Education to teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and modern prophets in a way that helps each student develop faith, become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, and strengthen their ability to find answers, resolve doubts, and respond with faith.
In a cover letter, candidates should describe their qualifications for—and interest in—teaching the Foundations of the Restoration course, including academic training, past teaching experience, and other evidence of competency and proficiency for teaching the course.
