Ballard Center for Social Impact Statement

The mission of the Ballard Center for Social Impact in the BYU Marriott School of Business is to develop the faith and skills to solve social problems. Our primary methodology for achieving this aim is mentored student leadership. Through research, education, and practical experience, we empower students to leverage their diverse skills and insights to address pressing social problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging course content for GCI 443 aligned with Ballard Center learning objectives, which examines how corporations engage in social impact through strategy, operations, and culture.

  • This adjunct would have the potential of teaching GCI 443: Corporate Social Impact (3 credit hours) in Fall 2026.

  • Facilitate class sessions that integrate theory with practical application.

  • Develop and assess student assignments, including projects and presentations.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

  • Maintain regular communication with students and Ballard Center leadership.

  • Develop and/or assimilate content and frameworks that usefully analyze and compare a variety of impact approaches that address the evolving nature of corporate impact

  • Ensure that the content and learning outcomes of the course are aligned with, and not duplicative of, ethics and corporate impact strategies taught elsewhere in the Marriott School

  • Assist in recruiting students to the course and articulating the suite of offerings, including this course, to students and other audiences.

  • Submit final grades in accordance with university policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business management, business ethics, or a related field. (Must have required degree by start date)

  • Professional experience in corporate social impact, CSR, ESG, or related areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach or mentor students effectively.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in corporate social impact or sustainability roles.

  • Prior university teaching experience.

  • Experience working across sectors (corporate, nonprofit, government).

  • Familiarity with impact measurement and evaluation frameworks.

  • Experience with pedagogical development
