Position Start Date: September 1, 2026

Required Degree:

Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

  • Ability to teach IS 543: Mobile Platform Development at an intermediate level
  • Prior teaching or training experience at the university or professional level
  • Professional experience as a Software Engineer
  • Knowledge of the Swift programming language, iOS app development, and SwiftUI and SwiftData libraries
  • Ability to use generative AI tools such as Claude Code or Codex effectively

Brief Description: This course covers the principles of mobile app development, with a focus on the iOS platform and the Swift ecosystem. Students will learn how to design and implement modern mobile apps using the Swift programming language, the Xcode IDE, SwiftUI, and SwiftData. Programming skills are developed and tested through programming tasks and projects of increasing complexity. Students will learn effective techniques for augmenting their work with GenAI.

Course Topics:

  • Mobile platform strategy, architecture, and user experience design
  • Swift programming language fundamentals
  • SwiftUI and declarative user interface development
  • Software architecture patterns, including MVC and MVVM
  • Protocol-oriented programming, generics, and reactive programming
  • concepts
  • Navigation, forms, lists, and application state management
  • Network communication, web service APIs, and asynchronous
  • programming
  • Local notifications and mobile device capabilities

Duties/Expectations:

  • Teach IS 543: Mobile Platform Development
  • Course content and teaching materials are created by the faculty for adjuncts to use (teaching assistants will be hired to assist in the course)
  • Development of robust, production-quality iOS applications through hands-on projects
  • Coach students on professional presentations, proposals, and client meetings
  • Passion and support for the Information Systems degree
  • Ability to engage with students in person
  • Taught Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00am - 9:15am
