6 hours per week for 16 weeks, days times vary based on student clinical sites

POSITION SUMMARY
The Adjunct RN BSN Clinical Instructor – Public Health Nursing provides clinical instruction and supervision to BSN students in community and public health settings. The instructor facilitates the application of nursing theory to population-focused care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and community-based interventions. This role ensures students develop competencies in public health nursing practice in alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Instruction and Supervision
- Supervise and instruct BSN students during public health clinical rotations in community-based settings such as health departments, clinics, schools, and outreach programs.
- Guide students in delivering safe, culturally competent, and population-focused care.
- Facilitate clinical learning experiences in areas including:
- - Community health assessment
- - Epidemiology and population health
- - Health promotion and disease prevention
- - Environmental health
- - Case management and care coordination
- - Health education and community outreach
- Ensure adherence to clinical site policies, public health regulations, and safety standards.
Student Evaluation and Feedback
- Evaluate student clinical performance through direct observation, community projects, presentations, and written assignments.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and professional growth.
- Complete midterm and final clinical evaluations in accordance with program requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student attendance, performance, and competencies.
Clinical Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with community partners and clinical site personnel to coordinate student learning experiences.
- Communicate clinical objectives, expectations, and assignments clearly to students.
- Serve as a liaison between the nursing program and community/public health agencies.
- Ensure clinical experiences align with course objectives and program outcomes.
Mentorship and Student Support
- Serve as a professional role model demonstrating ethical, culturally sensitive, and community-focused nursing practice.
- Support students in developing critical thinking, leadership, and population-based care skills.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse communities.
Professional Development and Compliance
- Maintain current knowledge and competency in public health nursing and community-based care.
- Stay current with public health trends, regulations, and evidence-based practices.
- Participate in faculty meetings, program evaluation, and professional development activities as required.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Public Health (MPH) required; doctoral degree preferred.
Licensure
- Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in public health, community health, or population-focused nursing practice.
Teaching/Precepting Experience
- Prior clinical teaching, precepting, or mentoring experience preferred.
