Adjunct Instructor: Health Economics
The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University seeks an adjunct instructor for Health Economics for students in the Master of Science in Health Care Analytics and Information Technology (MSHCAIT) program. We invite professionals with deep experience and demonstrated leadership in the field to apply.
The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the methods of health economics and demonstrate how these methods can be applied to analyze issues in health policy and management. This course will teach the student to use economic analysis to understand critical issues in health care and health policy.
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
The course is a required core course. The instructor should assume that the students have some reasonable proficiency with statistics, graphs, and basic algebra, and have experience in health economics or related field.Recent experience in teaching health economics at the university level preferred.
The course is a full-semester (i.e. 14 weeks) during the fall semester. Course times are Monday and Wednesday (two 80-minute class sessions per week), starting at 11:00 AM.
The course design should at minimum include relevant readings (textbook, research papers, news articles, etc.), in-class discussions, and appropriate evaluations of mastery of concepts for grading purposes (homework, quizzes/exams, etc.). Given the focus of Heinz College graduate programs, utilization of data, strategic thinking, and application of leadership skills are highly encouraged to be integrated into the course.

Advanced degree in Economics or related field, preferred health econ teaching experience
