Job Description

Lakeland University, a liberal arts institution, seeks a qualified adjunct instructor to teach one or two Graphic Design courses beginning in the spring, 2026 term. The term dates for both courses are January 20 - May 8.

Class: GDN 102: Graphic Design II - Image Editing

Location: Face-to-Face preferably at the home campus in Plymouth, Wisconsin (but willing to discuss other modalities)

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 - 10:50 a.m. (preferred)

Course Description: This course will introduce and apply the fundamentals of image manipulation to the process of editing bitmap imagery using Adobe Photoshop. Students will become familiar with the tools and techniques used to create high resolution compositions, including image montage and portrait retouching. Emphasis will be placed on creative problem solving and designing creative work that incorporates effective use of the elements and principles of design. Pre-requisites: none.

Class: GDN 265: History of Graphic Design

Location: Online

Schedule: Asynchronous

Course Description: This course will explore the evolution of graphic design from the invention of writing through the digital age. Students will study major art movements from a graphic design perspective. Emphasis will be placed on learning, identifying, and analyzing the key characteristics within each movement, including themes, aesthetics, artists/designers and creative work. Pre-requisites: none.

Semester Hours: 3

Candidates should possess, at minimum, a Master's degree in Graphic Design; and relevant teaching experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Teach undergraduate courses in graphic design.
  • Work with full-time faculty and deans to understand and employ activities that meet course learning objectives.
  • Administer and/or develop coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives.
  • Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
  • Use university technology as directed.
