
Lakeland University, a liberal arts institution, seeks a qualified adjunct instructor to teach a course in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence beginning in March 2026
Location: Online (Asynchronous course)
Course Details: CPS 425/ Artificial Intelligence; 3 credits
Course Description: This course is a survey of existing techniques in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and explores key concepts underlying intelligent systems, which are increasingly deployed in consumer products and online services. The main goal of the course is to equip the student with the tools to tackle AI problems they might encounter in life. Students will explore the principles and techniques involved in programming computers to do tasks that would require intelligence if people did them. This course presents an introduction to the areas of robotics, theorem proving, heuristic programming, natural language processing, neural networks, and game playing.
Course Learning Outcomes:
• Will be familiar with some of the key concepts that make up intelligent systems,
• Be familiar with the tools to tackle AI problems one might encounter in life.
• Know what it takes to create AI type computer programs, and
• Have an introduction to the areas of robotics, theorem proving, heuristic programming, natural language processing, neural networks, and game playing
Term Dates: March 23, 2026 – May 8, 2026 (7 week term)
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess, at minimum, a master's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a relevant field OR hold a master's degree in a non-relevant field and have completed at least 18 graduate credits in computer science or a relevant field. Minimum qualifications must be met for consideration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Teach undergraduate courses in computer science.
· Work with full-time faculty and deans to understand and employ activities that meet course learning objectives.
· Administer and/or develop coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives.
· Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
· Use university technology as directed.
