The Adjunct Health Sciences Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in medical terminology and related Health Sciences coursework. Assignments may include MED 120 - Survey of Medical Terminology, MED 121 - Medical Terminology I, MED 122 - Medical Terminology II, and other Health Sciences or Medical Office-related courses. Instruction may be delivered in seated, hybrid, or online formats and may include day, evening, weekend, eight-week, fall, spring, or summer assignments. The instructor is expected to support student learning, maintain required academic records, communicate professionally, and advance the mission and core values of the College.

Examples of duties

  • Prepare and teach assigned Health Sciences courses in accordance with approved curriculum and College requirements.
  • Teach Medical Terminology courses, including MED 120, MED 121, MED 122, and other assigned Health Sciences or Medical Office-related coursework.
  • Maintain and update course syllabi, materials, outlines, and instructional resources to ensure content remains current, accurate, and relevant.
  • Teach assigned classes in seated, online, or hybrid formats, including day, evening, weekend, eight-week, and summer offerings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and other student records and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the College's learning management system and instructional technologies to support student learning and engagement.
  • Assess student learning, provide timely feedback, and implement strategies that support student success, retention, and completion.
  • Communicate professionally and responsively with students, faculty, staff, and supervisors.
  • Attend required departmental meetings, orientations, training, and professional development activities.
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive learning environment and advance the College's mission and core values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Allied Health, or a closely related field.
  • Clinical or professional experience in a health-related field.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Master's degree in Health Sciences, Allied Health, or a closely related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in a community college or higher education setting.
  • Experience teaching Medical Terminology or related Health Sciences coursework.
  • Experience with online or hybrid instruction.
