Job Description

The SAGE (Seasoned Adults Growing Educationally) Program is seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Health & Wellness Instructor to lead movement-based and wellness-focused non-credit enrichment classes for older adult learners. Subjects may include yoga, meditation, tai chi, Zumba, line or hand dancing, group exercise, chair aerobics, strength training, swimming, brain fitness, nutrition, and healthy eating.
The instructor will plan and deliver safe, engaging, and accessible instruction that supports physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. Instruction is designed for adults aged 60 and older and should accommodate varying fitness levels, mobility needs, and learning styles while fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
The instructor is expected to maintain current knowledge in their discipline, follow appropriate safety guidelines, assess participation and progress, and participate in curriculum development and professional development activities that support lifelong learning and healthy aging.

  • The salary range for Continuing Education part time faculty position is $15 – $70 per contact hour depending on the education and experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree in related fields such as Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Education, Gerontology, Dance, or Physical Education required. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree depending on the course content/subject matter.
  • Professional certification, licensure, registry, or other credentialing as required for the specific discipline or content area.
  • Specialized experience in teaching or working with older adults (age 60+), including an understanding of age-related learning needs, cognitive and physical changes, and how these affect instructional strategies.
