Job Description

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach Introduction to Epidemiology for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester. The course is taught on the Boston campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-4:45pm. Successful candidates will have at least one year of experience teaching, preferably at the college level. Course description: This course is designed to provide a foundation of epidemiologic terminology, concepts, and measures. Students will identify key sources of data, calculate basic epidemiology measures, and evaluate the strengths and limitations of epidemiologic reports. Additionally, students will gain exposure to the concepts of epidemiologic study design, association, and causality, as well as the epidemiologic approach to disease intervention.

  • Delivers engaging instruction in face-to-face, in-person classes
  • Provides assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts covered
  • Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
  • Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
  • Advises and assists students through in-person office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone, or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree (masters or above) in public health or allied discipline
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching courses at the college/university level
  • Commitment to undergraduate student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, and administration/staff)
