Type of Appointment: Unclassified - Faculty 9 months

Duties and Responsibilities:

75% Clinical and Classroom Teaching:
a. Evaluate present and potential clinical facilities.
b. Meet with agency personnel to review objectives of clinical experience.
c. Conduct pre and post conferences.
d. Orient students to clinical facilities.
e. Assign clients based on students' individual learning needs and course objectives.
f. Supervise students in the clinical area.
g. Assist students to develop critical thinking skills.
h. Evaluate students' correlation of theoretical concepts with clinical practice.
i. Maintain notations on student performance.
j. Recommend specific strategies to assist students in accomplishing goals.
k. Conduct evaluation conferences.
l. Confer with the course coordinator regarding student progress.
m. Teach classroom content in accordance with master syllabus and complete all associated duties (testing, evaluation, grade submission)

25% Professional:
a. Adhere to college and school policies.
b. Demonstrate responsibility for professional growth and development.
c. Abide by the philosophy and policies of the school and affiliating agencies.
d. Collaborate with agency personnel to maintain productive relationships.
e. Serve as a role model for students and colleagues.
f. Demonstrate initiative and self-direction.
g. Complete assignments within designated time frame.
h. Maintain office hours per week as needed.
i. Participate in performance evaluation with coordinator.

Required Education Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Required Experience Three years nursing experience (with a minimum of six full-time months during these 3 years). One year experience in a medical-surgical setting.

Required Licenses or Certifications Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana.

Preferred Education

Preferred Experience American Heart Association Basic Life Support provider status; acceptable background check and drug screening results; documentation of health requirements (physical exam, immunizations).
Ability to provide clinical nursing care without restrictions for up to a 12 hour shift.
