The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Worldwide campus is currently hiring adjunct faculty to teach HUMN 430 – Ethics in Aviation at our Worldwide campus. Successful candidates may also be applicable to teach HUMN 330 – Values and Ethics.

Course Description

Aviation ethics, integrating classical ethical theories with real-world applications specific to the aviation industry. Safety, security, engineering, air traffic management, environmental concerns, business practices, emerging technologies, through the lens of ethical theories such as Utilitarianism, Deontology, and Virtue Ethics. How ethics shape and are shaped by the aviation world. Future ethical challenges in aviation.

Please note that ERAU policy requires that all adjuncts be physically located within the United States while working for the University, including during training. Presently, we are able to support work for new adjuncts from all U.S. states exceptCalifornia ERAU does not support work from international locations with some limited exceptions for individuals who are residing and working from U.S. military bases.

If selected for this role, the candidate will be required to provide proof of stated qualifications. This includes, but is not limited to, official transcripts, copies of professional licenses/certifications, documentation of military experience, and/or verified professional industry related experience.

Qualifications

Applicant Qualifications

  • Doctor’s or Master’s degree in teaching discipline, or a Masters degree with a concentration in teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).

Desired Professional Training or Experience:

  • Recent or current experience in aviation related to the course description.

Degrees Within the Teaching Discipline:

  • Ethics

  • Philosophy

  • Law

  • Political Science
