Adjunct Faculty, Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling
The Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling program at the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) seeks applications for an Adjunct Faculty to teach one or multiple courses in the Summer 2026. These courses are designed to provide students with exposure and knowledge to fundamental clinical genetics specialties, including professional development and genetic counseling skill development.
An appreciation for an integrated, team-based approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative approaches to academic program development, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a team environment.
Candidates may submit an application to teach the following course:
GENE 6801 Genetic Counseling Fieldwork I (Summer 2026): Up to 10 hours per week
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate must hold a master’s degree in genetic counseling and be certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Experience in teaching and clinical supervision of genetic counseling students is highly desired. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Individuals will be responsible for planning and teaching a standardized patient curriculum that supports students’ integration of knowledge, skills, and experience to prepare them for future jobs in genetic counseling. This may include, but is not limited to the following:

Hours, Classification, and Status:
This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits.
Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute.
The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to details with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.
Ability to travel locally as needed to meet business requirements, which may include driving or other modes of transportation. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off-campus.
