Heriot-Watt University Dubai campus is currently inviting applications for Adjunct Faculty positions in Design Thinking.

Roles & Responsibilities for our adjuncts may include:
Undertaking teaching and assessment duties on academic programmes. Support colleagues in the delivery of courses and other activities to support the delivery of the University’s aims.
Support in developing relevant materials in appropriate formats. Contribute to the content, design and delivery and the quality of teaching and learning, in consultation with colleagues and within the international structures and mechanisms established by the University.
Deliver teaching and practical workshop activities related to design thinking theories and frameworks, creative and critical thinking, user-centred research, interdisciplinary collaboration, problem seeking and problem solving, ideation, prototyping and strategic storytelling.
Support students in applying design thinking methods to understand user needs, generate appropriate solutions, develop and evaluate concepts and communicate design-led outcomes.
Mentor and supervise students, providing effective, well-documented and timely feedback, both formative and summative. Provide pastoral support, recognising when to refer a student for further support. Play a key role in the delivery and support of an excellent student learning and living experience at HWU.
Support the assessment of portfolios of work, including workshop activities, research, ideation, design development, prototyping and reflective practice.
Develop and maintain strong links with business and industry, external organisations and the education sector.
Work collaboratively with colleagues at our Dubai Campus as well as at our UK and other campuses where applicable, and with external networks both for the exchange of information, to share learning and to form relationships for future collaboration.
The typical time commitment includes contact hours within the classroom, preparation time, assessment and feedback time, all over a 12 to 15-week teaching and assessment semester
Qualifications:
PhD or Masters in Design, Design Management, or a relevant field
Ability to teach Postgraduate programmes.
Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
Previous teaching, training or workshop facilitation experience is preferred.
Excellent Communication skills: programmes are delivered in English and so fluency in English is essential.
Other requirements:
Applicants must be in the UAE and on a Resident visa and must provide a NO-Objection-Certificate (NOC) from the visa sponsor. UAE Nationals & Golden visa holders do not need to provide a NOC. Right to work documentation required from candidates will include.
