Job Description

ABOUT MEDEFER

Medefer is a pioneer in virtual-first specialist healthcare. Founded by NHS consultants over a decade ago, we were delivering consultant-led virtual outpatient care well before “virtual hospitals” became a national priority. Our model has since been cited in government and NHS England material on the NHS Online vision as one of the service models informing this direction.

We sit at the intersection of clinical provider and technology company. Our CQC-registered service is powered by Medefer’s own electronic health record and referral platform, connecting GPs, consultants, diagnostic providers and hospitals into a single coordinated system. This approach has won multiple national awards for elective recovery, innovation and impact, and we now serve both NHS partners and private patients across the UK.

Medefer is built on three principles: innovate to solve real system problems, collaborate with clinicians and partners, and put patients first in every decision. As we scale across Integrated Care Systems and grow our private services, joining now means helping to define what modern specialist care looks like - and owning the financial strategy behind it.

JOB TITLE: ADHD Practitioner

REPORTING TO: Clinical Lead

LOCATION: Remote

PAY RATE: £60.00 per hour, flexible hours available

Join us in our mission to transform patient care and be part of a dynamic and innovative team. We pride ourselves on a supportive, collaborative and inclusive culture and you will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of intelligent, driven and compassionate people who care deeply about transforming the way healthcare is delivered.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a General Practitioner with an interest in ADHD to join our multidisciplinary team and help develop a service that prioritises clinical excellence, continuity and patient experience.

Our approach goes beyond a tick-box assessment. We take time to understand developmental history, gather collateral information and consider differential diagnoses and co-occurring mental health conditions, supporting comprehensive and clinically robust care.

Reporting to the Clinical Lead, you will support adult ADHD assessments, provide psychoeducation and contribute to treatment and follow-up within your competence and agreed clinical protocols.

You will join a supportive, collaborative team and have the opportunity to help shape an innovative ADHD service from the ground up, with remote working and flexible hours.

Our values—Patient First, Inventive and Collaborative—guide how we work, supported by our behaviours: Open, Adaptable, Curious, Compassionate and Accountable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting semi-structured ADHD assessment interviews and gathering detailed clinical and developmental histories.
  • Reviewing pre-assessment documentation, GP information, medication history, physical health information and relevant collateral evidence.
  • Preparing comprehensive assessment information for psychiatrists and senior clinicians, and contributing to holistic diagnostic formulations.
  • Providing psychoeducation, practical symptom-management strategies and non-pharmacological advice.
  • Helping patients understand treatment options and supporting them throughout their care pathway.
  • Where appropriate to your competence, initiating and managing medication titration under agreed protocols, monitoring effectiveness and side effects, and liaising with GPs about prescribing and shared care.
  • Helping develop and refine clinical pathways, improve patient experience and build a sustainable ADHD service.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

You will be a compassionate, organised GP who values thorough assessment and continuity of care. You will be comfortable working autonomously, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a developing service.

Essential requirements:

  • General Practitioner with an interest in ADHD.
  • Current GMC registration, a licence to practise and inclusion on the GP Register.
  • Experience working with adults with ADHD and/or neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Experience conducting clinical assessments and taking detailed patient histories.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and clinical documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to holistic, patient-centred care and maintaining current clinical compliance documentation.

Desirable experience:

  • ADHD medication titration.
  • Right to Choose or specialist ADHD services.
  • Mental health assessment, including differential diagnosis and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
  • Remote or digital healthcare delivery.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS AND KEY TERMS:

This is a self - employed role and applicants must have a valid right to work in the UK, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. All offers are subject to the successful completion of onboarding and vetting, including an enhanced DBS and references.

About Medefer

We invent elegant solutions that create new capacity and promote patient choice.

We know the NHS is the beating heart of our country. It only works because of the hard work of so many people. From nurses on the front line to specialist doctors and managers, everyone helps to keep things running. However, because the NHS is so big and so busy, even the best workers can have a hard time providing top care all the time.

We have made a solution we call "elegant simplicity." Our inventive outpatients service makes it easier for patients to go from seeing their GP to getting better. It also helps GPs, Trusts, and the whole NHS by creating more space for care when it's needed.

Our service helps connect patients with NHS consultants, making it easier to handle changes in demand. We believe in giving patients more choices and quick access to great healthcare. That's our promise to our patients and stakeholders.
