Job Description

In Product Development, we make driving more exciting, enjoyable and sustainable. Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team designs and develops hardware and functional models that provide Best-in-Class behavior for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist, Lane Center Assist, BlueCruise, and 360 Camera Systems. We are seeking seasoned professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience in the development of sensors, ECUs, models, and software. This position focuses on the verification and validation of advanced ADAS sensing systems.


The ADAS Platform and Sensing Validation Supervisor will lead the verification of ADAS software and sensing platform performance prior to feature application release. In this role, you will ensure that sub-system performance for cameras, radars, ultrasonics, and perception algorithms meet all design and regulatory standards. As this is a new function within the ADAS V&V organization, you will be responsible for building a team of engineers to develop and execute validation plans across diverse environments. This will include close collaboration with cross-functional ADAS groups and suppliers to enhance the comprehensive systems and feature validation strategy.

What you'll do...

• Lead the development and execution of design validation methods to ensure proper sensing system performance at the component, system, and vehicle level across a variety of environmental and cross-carline noise factors.
• Build and establish a Platform & Sensing Validation team through hiring and recruiting activities
• Establish a comprehensive Platform/Sensing validation plan that supports successful Feature validation within Program Milestone timing
• Provide guidance to the Platform/Sensing V&V team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with other teams, including software development, program management, Systems Engineering, and Suppliers to align V&V activities with overall project goals.
• Support vehicle program milestone deliverables and signoffs, including investigation and resolution of Platform/Sensing issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of V&V processes and methodologies, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
• Identify opportunities to utilize HiL and CAE methods for ADAS Platform and Sensor performance verification and execute plans for implementation
• Ensure quality Platform/Sensing sign-off through evidence audits and document reviews.
• Support upgrades and enhancements to ADAS sensing systems, by working closely with feature owners to design/execute modeling changes, regression testing, test vector support, data review, issue identification, and supplier interaction.

You'll bring...

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
• 6+ Years Experience in development or validation of features in the Driver Assistance domain using radars, cameras, lidars, ultrasonic sensors and other related vehicle systems
• General knowledge or experience developing/testing features and/or sensing systems in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, lidars, ultrasonic sensors, or other related vehicle systems (body, electrical, chassis, powertrain)
• Strong understanding of V&V methodologies, tools, and best practices
• 3+ years of experience with virtual validation methods (HIL/MIL/SIL)
• 3+ years of experience developing and conducting laboratory and vehicle tests, data collection, and analysis
• Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, and passion to improve customer satisfaction
• Strong communication, teamwork, and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary

Even better, you may have...

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Controls or related field
• Experience leading the validation and verification of ADAS sensing systems
• Experience in project management and/or an integration role, leading and directing other team members
• Experience with computer vision & radar tracking of humans, vehicles, static roadway obstacles or other typical road objects
• Experience with computer vision detection & tracking of signs, lights, lanes and other key artifacts.
• Understanding of embedded hardware and software design
• Experience developing, conducting, observing, and reporting on statistically relevant verification and validation methods across the global population
• Experience with MobilEye EyeQ technology
• Exposure to vehicle attributes development (Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Package, Performance/FE, etc.)
• Experience with failure mode analysis techniques
• Understanding of Kalman filtering, digital signal processing, vehicle dynamics, linear & nonlinear control methods

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $132,000 - $190,000.
