Job Description

Come join our team at the Coastal Swim Academy as an Adaptive Aquatics Instructor, teaching lifesaving water skills to children and educating parents about water safety. This position will be working directly with our special needs swimmers and will be an adaptive teacher in order to meet the needs of those children and families. The Adaptive Aquatics Instructor will be working exclusively with students with Special Needs and helping individuals with various disabilities in order to gain confidence in the water, improve their swimming skills and achieve their goals.

Must have experience working with special needs students in any environment. Does not have to be exclusively in a water setting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety for all students.
  • Love and respect students while building water confidence and encouraging them to rise to the best of their abilities.
  • Be a team player who is who is consistently dependable and reliable.
  • Complete required training and be a continual learner.
  • Follow our curriculum with a focus on the needs, abilities and comfort of each student.
  • Ability to communicate with parents while teaching their babies life saving water skills

Qualities we look for:

  • MUST BE COMFORTABLE IN THE WATER AND INTERACTING WITH OUR SPECIAL NEEDS SWIMMERS AND FAMILIES
  • Responsible individuals who are able to adapt and adjust with a positive attitude
  • Willingness to work in the water
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attitude and willingness to be coached
  • CPR/Lifeguarding certification is preferred, but not required to start
  • The ability to focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Afternoons and Saturdays are required

Compensation: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
