Job Description

The Acute Care Services (ACS) / Mobile Crisis Clinician will be part of a team providing 24/7 mobile outreach to those in the community who are in psychiatric crisis. The purpose of this program is to provide immediate interventions to stabilize the crisis in an effort to avoid psychiatric hospitalization. The Mobile Crisis Clinician and the Mobile Crisis Team will work in partnership with police, first responders, schools, and other community stakeholders. This role will report to the Director of Acute Care Services & Mobile Crisis.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Rapidly and accurately evaluate complex behavioral health situations, develop, recommend and support clinically appropriate crisis interventions to be implemented with individual clients, their families, and a wide variety of community helpers.
  • Consult, triage, or actively participate in facilitating appropriate voluntary inpatient admissions, involuntary emergency admissions, and conditional discharge revocation paperwork.
  • Provide crisis stabilization follow-up as necessary.
  • Refer patients to the appropriate aftercare agencies.
  • Provide preventive and supportive interventions to client and families as appropriate when such intervention might prevent a situation of a more serious clinical nature.
  • Work collaboratively with the Case Manager, Primary Therapist, Psychiatrist and other involved treatment providers to plan and implement this level of intervention.
  • Utilize Crisis Prevention Plans and Client Alerts to maintain clinical focus for those clients already receiving services.
  • Provide provisional treatment planning for those clients entering the MFS system via our Mobile Crisis interventions or a Discharge Plan for individuals evaluated at the ER.

Travel is required both within and outside of our Community Mental Health Center catchment area. Approximately 50-75%.

Clinicians must be available to respond to dispatch requests for the duration of their shift and work beyond their shift, as needed, based on coverage and dispatch needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related clinical field from an accredited college or university plus two years relevant experience.
  • Preference given to those who have previous crisis intervention experience or who have a degree that is certifiable or licensable in N.H.
  • At least one year in a degree related internship under the supervision of a psychiatrist, doctoral level psychologist, a certified/licensed mental health professional, or person with equivalent credentials.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work 1st and 2nd shifts
