The Acute Care Assistant works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and assist with direct patient care services that do not require licensure. Primary tasks include patient hygiene, activities of daily living, nutritional support, vital signs, EKG’s, ambulating and other basic patient care activities as directed. This position will provide relief back up assistance to the Unit Secretary as directed. Maintains positive public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Ensures the safe handling of infectious material(s) to protect all patients and employees.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
High School Graduate or G.E.D Certification required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.) or Nursing School experience preferred.
Knowledge:
A minimum of one year of recent experience as a Nurses Assistant in an acute care setting is strongly preferred or 1 year recent experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility considered.
Skills:
The ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
The ability to provide personal care to patients in a compassionate and caring manner.
The ability to position and/or transfer patients.
