Job Description

Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor.

We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836, and strive to build a better society, while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders.

We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

Our Group Functions provide the services that all areas of the business need. This requires a talented and diverse team behind the scenes, who enable everyone at L&G to do what they do best.

Joining us means helping to improve the lives of our customers and contributing to the success of the business every day.

We're looking for an Actuarial & Finance Change Services - Senior Manager to join us and help lead complex Enterprise-Wide Finance change across L&G.

This is a great opportunity for someone who can bring together technical actuarial / finance knowledge, confident project leadership and strong senior stakeholder management to ensure well-managed delivery. If you have previous experience leading complex actuarial, finance or technical change in a consultancy, insurer, asset management or other related environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Whatever your background what matters most is your ability to lead with credibility, adapt quickly and turn complex technical problems into pragmatic solutions.

You’ll be joining a well established team that already supports important change across modelling, reporting, governance and financial insight, so you'll have the opportunity to work with and lead like-minded change professionals.

This is a hybrid working opportunity, which means you can split your working week between your home and our Central London Office, to find a work-life balance that works for you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading complex actuarial and finance change initiatives across Group Finance and Enterprise-Wide Finance teams
  • Providing senior technical oversight across areas such as Solvency II, IFRS 17, Capital, Reserving, Planning and Reporting
  • Defining project scope, governance, milestones, risks, dependencies and delivery plans
  • Working closely with Finance, Risk, Data, IT, Operations and Senior Stakeholders across the Group to turn technical outputs into clear business insight
  • Overseeing changes to actuarial models, reporting processes and control frameworks
  • Managing and developing colleagues to deliver high-quality outcomes for internal customers
  • Influencing Senior Stakeholders through structured analysis, clear communication and practical recommendations
  • Ensuring change activity supports good customer outcomes and aligns with regulatory, governance and control expectations

Who we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Actuary (FIA/FFA or equivalent) or relevant technical professional experience
  • Strong experience leading complex actuarial, finance, insurance or technical change projects
  • A strong technical grounding in actuarial, finance, capital, reporting, modelling or related disciplines
  • Good knowledge of Solvency II, IFRS 17 or comparable regulatory/reporting frameworks
  • Experience managing project governance, risks, dependencies, controls and documentation
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Data, IT, Operations or similar teams
  • Ability to adapt quickly, pick up new technical areas and work across different business priorities
  • Experience in consultancy, PRT, matching adjustment, FIS Prophet or large-scale model/reporting change would be helpful but is not essential

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan
  • 30 days holiday, plus public holidays.
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time, term-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.

About Legal & General

Legal & General is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor.

Our three divisions enable us to carefully invest capital over the long term in a responsible way that delivers returns to shareholders while doing good. Along with growing our pension risk transfer business, our strategy focuses on asset management as the cornerstone of our business, including by opening up private markets to more of our clients. Meanwhile, our retail business is focused on building lifelong relationships with customers as they save for retirement and protect themselves and their families.

What unites all three parts of our business is summed up in our purpose statement which sets out what we do, why we do it, and our belief in the power of capital. It builds on what’s inspired us since our beginnings in 1836, and challenges us to do more, with greater urgency, in more places, for more people and in more ways, for the long term.
