Westland Insurance Group Ltd is growing and has an exciting opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join our growing team. This hybrid role is based out of our Head Office in Surrey, BC.
Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $80,000- $105,000 with a 35-hour work week. Your rate of pay will be determined based on your individual qualifications and experience, while considering internal equity.  Westland also offers a competitive annual short-term incentive program that enables employees to share in the rewards of the business and emphasizes the measures that are key to our success.

As an Actuarial Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting pricing strategy and data-driven decision making across Westland's in-house insurance products. Working alongside actuaries, data engineers, and analysts, you'll help shape the future of our pricing capabilities while building expertise in actuarial analysis, predictive modelling, and insurance analytics.

Why we’ll love You:

• You love working with data and using analytical thinking to uncover trends, solve problems, and support business decisions
• You have a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or another quantitative field and are actively pursuing an actuarial designation (CAS or SOA), with actuarial exams considered an asset
• You have at least two years of experience in an actuarial, analytical, or data-focused role, with experience using SQL, Python, and/or R for analysis and modelling
• You enjoy collaborating with actuaries, analysts, engineers, and business partners to translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations
• You can communicate complex findings clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences
• You have strong attention to detail, sound critical-thinking skills, and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
• Bonus: Experience with insurance pricing, predictive modelling, Power BI, Databricks, or P&C insurance

Once here, you'll:

• Support actuarial pricing analyses and help monitor rate adequacy across Westland's portfolio of Personal and Commercial Lines insurance products
• Partner with underwriting, operations, actuarial, and data teams to implement pricing changes and improve pricing processes
• Extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources to support pricing decisions, portfolio insights, and business objectives
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations while identifying opportunities to automate recurring analysis and reporting
• Contribute to the development, testing, and enhancement of predictive models that support pricing, retention, and conversion strategies
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders while continuously developing your actuarial, technical, and analytical expertise
