Brooklyn College Community Partnership (BCCP) seeks part-time Music Production, Art, Dance, Theater, STEM, Digital Media, and Podcast Activity Specialists for its DYCD-funded COMPASS middle school programs. Activity Specialists lead structured after-school STEAM and enrichment activities, including dance, sports, art, theater, music, youth leadership projects, video, photography, etc. With guidance from the Content Specialist, Activity Specialists design and facilitate lessons that foster creativity, academic enrichment, and social-emotional development. Activities will culminate in projects, showcases, or performances that highlight participant achievements.

Activity Specialists participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, organize, and lead high-quality activities within the assigned specialty area (Music Production, Art, Dance, Theater, STEM, Digital Media, and Podcast).

  • Create lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with program objectives.

  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.

  • Facilitate engaging, hands-on experiences that promote skill-building, collaboration, and confidence.

  • Prepare participants for culminating events, including showcases, exhibits, or performances featured at BCCP’s Annual Artsfest.

  • Provide support for homework help, enrichment sessions, and program-wide activities as needed.

  • Keep accurate attendance and activity documentation in compliance with DYCD requirements.

  • Notify the Program Director of any incidents and ensure timely reporting.

  • Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, and overall direction for their academic and SEL growth.

  • Attend weekly check-ins with supervisor and participate in ongoing professional development provided by BCCP and DYCD’s professional development partners.

  • Comply with NYC DOE, DOHMH, DYCD, and NYS SACC regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of experience in a supervisory position, including management and development of program content, staff supervision, training, and coaching

  • Strong knowledge of NYC DOE Public School system

  • Commitment to equity and to implementing culturally responsive teaching practices

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Strong interest in community work and youth development

  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace

Work Schedule: Various shifts available Monday - Friday, 2 to 5:30 PM, depending on the role

About BCCP: The Brooklyn College Community Partnership (BCCP), operating under the fiscal sponsorship of RFCUNY, is a community-based organization that provides youth development programs connecting Brooklyn College with surrounding neighborhoods. Through after-school and extracurricular initiatives in NYC Public Schools and at the Brooklyn College Art Lab (BCAL), BCCP offers holistic, interdisciplinary programming rooted in the principles of Positive Youth Development. Our activities empower students, spark creativity, and support their academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth while strengthening connections among youth, families, and the broader community.
