Activity Funds Manager -(2600012G)
The Activity Funds Manager is responsible for maintaining an efficient and effective operation of student activity funds by performing account reconciliations, analyzing financial data, supervising staff and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. This position will provide support to school principals, bookkeepers and secretaries to ensure consistency of district accounting policies and procedures over student activity and campus activity funds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain oversight for budget and actual transactions in campus activity funds and review each of the accounts of each school’s student activity fund for deficit balances and prepare activity fund bank reconciliation
- Supervise, train and manage Activity Fund Specialist and Itinerant Bookkeepers and perform yearly evaluations of staff
- Maintain the District’s Activity Fund Manual and review, recommend and implement improvements to procedures and processes
- Coordinate preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and prepare schedules for outside auditors
- Act as liaison between campus principals, campus bookkeepers and the accounting department
- Develop reports in financial accounting system. Review and ensure monthly sales tax reports due to the state for taxes collected and filed on a timely basis.
- Research and test system upgrades or new financial and other business office software to identify potential problems for end-users
- Utilize a wide range of office equipment, including computer technology and software/hardware systems used in the District
Supervisory Responsibilities- Lead, motivate, and train direct reports while fostering collaboration.
- Set goals, monitor performance, provide feedback, and address concerns with corrective actions when necessary
- Ensure compliance with policies, optimize workflows, manage budgets, and allocate resources effectively
- Maintain open communication, address challenges, facilitate discussions, and make informed decisions to resolve issues.

- A Bachelor’s Degree plus four years of school district accounting experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement
- Knowledge of governmental accounting and TEA’s Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG)
- Ability to perform complex computer operation functions
- Ability to understand and apply technical information
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, campus principals and bookkeepers
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Additional Information- Some assignments are subject to completion within strict time constraints and involve the potential stress associated with time-sensitive completion of tasks. Daily attendance and punctuality at work on time every day are essential functions of the job. Tasks involve maintaining security of funds at all times as well as confidentiality of information.
