The Moorings of Arlington Heights team is seeking a compassionate, innovative, and creative Activities Specialist to plan and facilitate activity programs that improve the quality of life for residents through engaging and meaningful experiences.

Essential Functions:
- Plan and implement activities, tailoring programming to address unique needs and interests, while leveraging the seven dimensions of wellness to create a balanced, enriching calendar of events.
- Foster relationships with residents, understanding their personal stories and adapting programs to align with their preferences, abilities, and challenges.
- Collaborate with Care Partners and other departments to enhance the quality of life for residents.
- Design engaging event materials, including calendars and flyers, and update Touchtown displays to maximize resident participation.
- Market programs creatively to encourage participation, especially among residents who need additional motivation.
- Assist residents with program engagement, providing guidance, instruction, and encouragement.
- Attend care plan meetings, resident assessments, and family conferences, providing relevant updates on resident engagement.
- Maintain attendance records, assist with animal and plant care as assigned, and coordinate outings and special events.
- Participate in Activity Program team meetings, training, and continuing education to stay current on dementia-related best practices.
- Utilize systems such as Caremerge, Touchtown, MyUnity, Microsoft Office, and Relias to enhance communication and program efficiency.
- Adhere to Presbyterian Homes’ Corporate Compliance policies, ensuring confidentiality and resident well-being in all interactions.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong leadership abilities, a proactive approach, and the ability to inspire and collaborate with the team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dementia-related illnesses, group work experience, and the capacity to engage residents in both group and individual settings.
- Creative, energetic, and positive mindset with the ability to handle changing conditions and challenges.
- Comfortable with computers, software, and AV equipment, with a willingness to learn new technologies.

Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
- Certifications such as Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) or Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) are recommended.
- Completion of a 36-hour Activity Director course is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist residents by pushing wheelchairs.
- Work involves occasional lifting and managing art and cleaning supplies.
