
Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center is seeking a caring and energetic PRN Activities Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for Veteran's (residents).
In this role, you will lead group programs, support residents with one-on-one activities, and help create a positive and welcoming environment where residents can stay active, social, and engaged.
This is a PRN (as needed) position.
Pay Rate: $20.46 per hour (may be eligible for shift differentials)
Shift Differentials:
Weekday Nights - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 7:00 pm - 7:00 am - $3.00 per hour
Weekend Days - Saturday, Sunday - 7:00 am - 7:00 pm - $3.50 per hour
Weekend Nights - Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 7:00 pm - 7:00 am - $5.00 per hour
• Implement and participate in scheduled programs for group activities, independent activities and therapeutic one-on-one activities.
• Complete assigned documentation including daily attendance of activities and responsiveness to therapeutic one-on-one programs.
• Assist residents/distribute personal mail items as necessary.
• Assist residents as necessary to and from activity areas and participation in activities.
• Provide information to all residents (including those with vision, hearing and cognitive deficits) and other staff members of the available activity programming for the day.
• Provide leadership over assigned activity program. Communicate effectively with members of the team to ensure that concerns/issues are addressed appropriately and timely.
• Maintain spaces designated for patient activities; ensure spaces are clean, appropriately furnished, conducive to participation and aesthetically appealing.
• Provide support to residents by being cognizant of resident needs, abilities and goals as outlined in the long-term care plan. Support residents and recognize that all residents have the potential for change and growth.
• Provide daily activity support for residents, purchasing items, support in making electronic items (television, phone, computer) accessible and providing guidance on how to use item.
• Discuss responsiveness of residents to activity programming and make suggestion for new activities or changes in current activity programming.
• If driving for outings, assist resident to and from their rooms to the transportation vehicle. Be responsible for the safety of all residents while on an outing.
• Communicate with resident families as needed, assist in coordinating special requests.
• Assist with special event/holiday programming as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Required Education/Experience High School Diploma is required. Prior work experience in providing activity programming is preferred. Previous work experience in geriatric work environment is highly desired.
Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
• An understanding of the long-term care resident and the ability to relate to them. Provide support in providing end-of-life quality care.
• Ability to operate general office equipment including computer software applications (e-mail, surveillance equipment/cameras).
• An interest in creative, recreational, cultural, educational, physical, spiritual and social activities.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.
Note An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.
Necessary Special Requirements Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a tuberculosis screening test.
Licenses or Certificates If driving, a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured as a facility driver.
