Activities Assistant

Full-Time

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

Non-Exempt

Schedule: Thursday - Monday

Assist in developing the resident activity programs of the community. Conduct activities in accordance with direction from the Life Enrichment Coordinator. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Assist in organizing programs for Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care resident group and individual activities based on residents individualized needs as identified in resident’s negotiated service plans.
  • Maintain a balance of recreational activities.
  • Participate in group activities that are scheduled to provide for maximum involvement by interested residents.
  • Help coordinate scheduled activities with other departments.
  • Communicate residents’ programs to residents, residents’ families, volunteers, and community staff.
  • Assist in preparing Monthly Activities Calendars indicating scheduled activities and times for coming months which reflect interests identified by the comprehensive assessment, offer activities at hours convenient to the residents (morning, afternoon, some evening and some weekends), reflect the cultural and religious interests of the resident population, appeal to both men and women and all age groups, living in the community, take place in a variety of locations (i/e., indoor/outdoor and community based activities), and include seasonal and special events.
  • Review the activity supplies and equipment to ensure materials are available to residents.
  • Prepare monthly report on progress of activity program as directed by the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
  • Responsible for transportation of residents within the community from one area to another area where activities may occur.
  • Participate in trainings as requested by administration.
  • Ability to recognize resident’s change in condition that could require nursing intervention. Report same to Wellness Director immediately.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality.
  • Supervise volunteers as necessary.
  • May assist residents on outings which includes driving the company vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstration of our Core Values Love, Kindness, Honesty, Goodness, Fairness, Respect.
  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months preferred.
  • Job Knowledge: Knowledge of special needs and limitations of elderly; methods and techniques used to include residents and involve them in activities; alert to attitudes and feelings of residents; knowledge of and familiarity with hand crafts, skills, games, other activities, and knowledge and sources of materials and knowledge and sources of materials and local services.
  • Other: Enjoy working with senior adults, exercise judgment, display empathy, creative skills, imagination, friendliness, resourcefulness, enthusiasm, and have a caring attitude and sincere interest in others. Must have a clean driving record through the DMV.

*Team members who are scheduled to work 24 or more hours per week are eligible for benefits, families of said team members will also be eligible.
