Activities Assistant – Part-Time
Linwood Meadows Care Center – Visalia, CA
Starting at $17.00–$19.00/hour (DOE)
General Purpose
The primary purpose of the Activities Assistant is to assist the Activity Director in running a creative and interactive activities program. This must be done in accordance with current federal, state, local, and corporate standards, regulations, and guidelines to ensure an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each resident.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities.
Assist in maintaining communication among residents, families, staff, and the community to ensure residents’ needs and interests are met.
Participate in community planning related to resident services and family engagement.
Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in implementing corrective action plans as needed.
Participate in discharge planning and the development of activity care plans and resident assessments.
Help arrange transportation for resident outings, appointments, and discharges.
Assist in developing and facilitating a variety of activities including resident outings, group programs, and in-room visits for residents unable to attend group events.
Encourage residents to participate in hobbies, crafts, and reading activities; provide necessary materials and resources (including Braille or audio materials as appropriate).
Assist with documentation and quarterly progress notes as directed by the Activity Director.
Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and security of the Activity Department.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about working with seniors.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching.
Regular interaction with residents, staff, and visitors in a moderate noise environment.
