Activities Assistant - Canada Summer Job

  The Opportunity

As a member of our team, you can experience a fulfilling career while working in a collaborative environment where support for you is prioritized.  As an Activities Assistant you will help plan and support Activities for the residents at Clarendon Court. 

What You'll Do 

• Develops activity programs for the campus, which address the differing needs of Assisted Living Residents, meet the needs of individuals, and support the Baptist Housing model of wellness
• Participates in the Development and circulation of a monthly activity calendar, weekly schedule and program promotion
• Assists Residents to make a comfortable transition to the community by assisting with welcome teas, introductions to other Residents and Team Members, and orientation to their new home
• Conducts and participates in programs and activities
• Observes and assesses Residents needs and interests during activities and interactions and communicates to Activities Manager
• Fosters the building of relationships between individuals within the Residence
• Works with a team of volunteers, who assist with planning and implementing programs and events
• Maintains knowledge of community programs, services and resources promoting wellness and provides information to Residents and families

What You Bring

Education & Experience 

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a related field. 
• Current emergency First Aid certification required
• Food Safe certification is considered an asset
• Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred. 

Skills & Competencies

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to plan and lead engaging programs and activities
• Experience supporting resident wellness through observation and assessment
• Strong documentation and computer skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Flexibility to adapt to operational needs and varying schedule

Employment Details 

• Must meet eligibility requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs program
• Temporary 8-week position
• 35 - 37.5 hours per week
• $18.25 - $19.25 per hour
