Information & Responsibilities
CalArts Extended Studies is a self-supporting unit within California Institute of the Arts, providing educational opportunities for creative professionals and lifelong learners. CalArts Extended Studies non-degree credit courses reflect the artistic and academic integrity of the degree curriculum at CalArts. Funding is generated through fees collected from a diverse and changing student population. Part-time instructor positions are on a course-by-course contracted basis. The contract is for the duration of the set development period.
Any candidate that is offered employment with CalArts must complete the Form I-9 in accordance with the law. On the form, an employee must attest to their employment authorization. The employee must also present their employer with acceptable documents as evidence of identity and employment authorization. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Course Title Acting Audition Self-Recording Workshop

Course description
In this 4-week intensive online course, you will learn best practices in creating a professional self-recorded acting audition video to enhance your application for college theater programs or other professional acting opportunities. Topics include audition techniques, selecting the right monologues, setting up the recording space, preparing for your recorded performance, and ensuring the quality of your video and audio recording. Class critiques and discussions will provide constructive and individualized feedback.

In this course you will:
Instructor Duties
• Develop online course materials and learning assessments.
• Utilize the Canvas System as the course support platform
• Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students
• Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes, and assign grades (pass/fail)
• Post final student grades to the Extended Studies registration system by set deadlines
• Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner
• Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of practice
• Participate in required meetings, orientation, and complete mandatory training programs
• Complete required administrative tasks in a timely manner including
• Employ culturally competent and inclusive teaching methodologies in the classroom
an active professional performance practice
experience in video production
an in-depth understanding of the selection process for college theater programs and casting for theater and film productions
experience with online curriculum development and delivery for adult learners
excellent interpersonal and presentation, written, and communication skills

Salary
The rate of pay is $148.5 per hour for 17 hours of course development and 8 hours for course delivery. Please note that the course delivery requires a minimum number of students to be enrolled in the course.
