Software Controls Engineer – Schneider Electric Specialist

Actemium Automation Hampshire | Full‑Time | Industrial Automation

Actemium Automation Hampshire, part of VINCI Energies, is seeking a Software Controls Engineer with experience programming Schneider Electric PLCs and working with Schneider SCADA and HMI systems. You’ll deliver automation and digital transformation projects across the water, energy and process sectors, contributing to essential UK infrastructure.

You will be responsible for programming Schneider Electric PLCs, configuring SCADA/HMI systems, and delivering full‑lifecycle automation solutions.

Travel: Around 10–15%, with most client sites within a 2‑hour drive of the Hampshire office.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Program Schneider Electric PLCs (Modicon, EcoStruxure, Unity Pro).

  • Configure and commission SCADA and HMI systems (AVEVA/Wonderware).

  • Deliver PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions for water and process industry clients.

  • Produce technical documentation (FDS, specifications, control philosophies).

  • Support full lifecycle delivery: design, FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover.

  • Conduct site surveys, upgrades and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with clients and internal engineering teams.

🎯 Essential Skills

  • Ideally degree/HNC/HND in Electrical, Controls, Automation or Software Engineering.

  • Strong experience programming Schneider Electric PLCs and working with Schneider SCADA/HMI platforms.

  • Solid automation engineering and troubleshooting skills.

  • Clear communicator and effective team collaborator.

  • Full UK driving licence, with flexibility for occasional travel.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of industrial networking or cyber security.
