Job Description

Air Core Reactors Principal Engineer will act as technical consultant, ensuring customer confidence, reviewing and enhancing design practices, acting as a gate keeper for technical reviews, applying lessons learned, leading complex, state-of-the-art technology improvements, engaging with quality reviews and cost optimization exercises both within their specialist domain and across other domains.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as a recognized technical authority in Air Core Reactors design both internally and externally and act as technical advisor to Senior leadership levels and Engineers.
  • Coach and mentor engineers to build technical depth and strengthen organizational capability.
  • Guide teams towards solutions that are safe, reliable, cost-effective, practical to install, and efficient to operate.
  • Support Engineers in governance and training to reinforce proper execution of design review guidelines.
  • Actively contribute to and drive both internal and external standardization, coordinate working group activities and proactively represent GE Vernova in IEC, IEEE, CIGRE and similar professional bodies, task forces and industry committees.
  • Support Internal Stakeholders and Engineers to develop and maintain a strategic Air Core Reactor technology roadmap.
  • Suggest areas for technological advancement and recommend approaches/programs to pursue.
  • Chair and act as technical authority in technology and product development gate reviews
  • Lead/support teams addressing identified project challenges in focused technical areas.
  • Support technical tendering and factories in the introduction of new solutions.
  • Support the quality teams on major quality issues and act as technical authority in root cause analysis processes.
  • Act as technical authority in competence management.
  • Provide technical consultation on product problems throughout the business, including supplier and field support and perform technical rescues when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Significant experience in Engineering/Technology.
  • Experience working on Air Core Reactor design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical reviews and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese.
