SHINE Systems is currently seeking an intermediate-level Engineer Scientist to support our customers' mission. The Tactical Network Engineer provides technical leadership in support of the Nett Warrior Continuous Transformation Team (CTT). This position leads the evaluation, integration, interoperability assessment, testing, and fielding of emerging technology integration of hardware, software, and updated network capabilities within the Army's tactical communications and command and control ecosystem focusing on the Dismounted Soldier System or Systems.

Working closely with Product Managers, Program Offices, operational units, and industry partners, the Engineer Scientist supports the full engineering lifecycle and helps ensure emerging technologies are effectively integrated in support of Nett Warrior, Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2), Transformation in Contact (TiC), Tactical Edge Networking (TEN), and related Army modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities include systems integration, requirements analysis, technical evaluation, interoperability testing, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical evaluation, integration, interoperability analysis, and testing of emerging network, hardware, and software capabilities for the Nett Warrior product line.
• Serve as the primary technical interface among government stakeholders, operational units, program offices, engineering teams, and industry partners throughout the integration lifecycle.
• Perform system-of-systems engineering analyses to assess requirements, dependencies, technical standards, interface specifications, and operational impacts across tactical communications and command and control architectures.
• Provide technical leadership across the engineering lifecycle, including design, development, integration, verification, validation, testing, troubleshooting, fielding, and sustainment activities.
• Lead and coordinate integration efforts across Army modernization initiatives, acquisition programs, and multidisciplinary teams supporting Nett Warrior and related capability development efforts.
• Conduct technical and operational assessments of commercial and government-developed technologies, evaluating interoperability, compliance, and suitability for integration into the Nett Warrior architecture.
• Support Product Management leadership through technical assessments, risk analyses, recommendations, reports, briefings, and engineering documentation that inform program decision-making.
• Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, network engineers, and operational users during laboratory, field, and operational test events to resolve issues and improve system performance.

A Successful Engineer Scientist Will:

• Possess extensive knowledge of the Integrated Tactical Network (ITN), Nett Warrior architecture, and Army tactical communications systems.
• Demonstrate expertise in systems engineering, interoperability analysis, systems integration, and technical evaluation of complex military command and control capabilities.
• Understand Army tactical operations and the employment of command and control systems supporting modernization initiatives, including NGC2, Transformation in Contact (TiC), and Tactical Edge Networking (TEN).
• Lead complex technical integration efforts involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and evolving operational requirements.
• Effectively communicate and coordinate with senior government leaders, operational units, acquisition professionals, engineers, and industry partners to achieve mission objectives.
• Apply engineering principles across the full system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and sustainment.
• Analyze complex technical challenges and provide practical recommendations that improve interoperability, operational effectiveness, and mission success across the tactical network.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert, evaluating emerging commercial and government technologies for integration into Army tactical communications and command and control environments.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Secret Security Clearance.
• One of the following combinations of education and experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience utilizing Nett Warrior or comparable situational awareness and command and control systems.
• Extensive knowledge of Army Mission Command systems, military voice and data communications, tactical networks, brigade-and-below network architectures, transport technologies, data flows, and device configuration management.
• Strong understanding of IP networking architectures, network devices, networking principles, and tactical communications infrastructure.
• Experience with tactical networks, mission command systems, handheld computing devices, operating systems, system administration, network protocols, and software development or engineering processes.
• Demonstrated ability to independently assess technical and operational challenges, exercise sound judgment, solve complex problems, and communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, produce technical documentation, and travel as required to support customer operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Military experience is desired but not required.
• Five (5) or more years of experience employing Nett Warrior or comparable situational awareness and command and control systems.
• Experience supporting Army tactical communications, Mission Command systems, operational units, or military network modernization initiatives.
• Experience operating tactical radios and developing communications architectures, including communications planning, Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) waveforms, and Common Operating Picture (COP) data flows.
• Experience deploying, configuring, administering, and supporting Team Awareness Kit (TAK) server infrastructure and associated services.
• Experience utilizing TAK applications, including ATAK, WinTAK, and ITAK, in operational, test, or training environments.
• Experience developing automation and administrative scripts using Windows PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
• Experience creating, configuring, and managing virtual machines and virtualized environments using Hyper-V or comparable virtualization platforms.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification or another DoD 8570/8140-compliant cybersecurity certification.

Determination: The final salary offered will be based on funding and the selected candidate’s experience, education, and geographic location.
